Be careful with british lit. Depending on the prof you get, it could be the worst english class you've ever taken.

On the other hand Canadian Lit can be a very fun course. Haven't taken contempo lit theory though.

i have taken all of them. Most kids who aren't english majors dont really enjoy the british literature courses. They are extensive and Britlit 1 focuses on literature from about 700-1700s i think? i cant remember. maybe it goes to victorians. its a year long course and its a lot of reading.

contemporary theory is a lot of just..literary theory. its pretty dry. but can lit is great. ive pretty much taken every can lit course at carleton cause im really into it. its really good to read books from canadian authors.

For Canlit, Colette Tracey is a good prof if you don't like exams. The marks are from 2 essays and several group presentations, plus attendance.

For BritLit, do some research on the profs. Some are horrible lecturers but don't give midterms. Some are great lecturers with midterms from hell. Depends what you prefer!
